The Shark Fin is an unusual quest item in Path of Exile 2, and its large inventory footprint makes it something most players will want to deal with quickly. Finding Kaimana on Ngakanu

For players who are still progressing through the relevant section of Act 4, Kaimana can be found on Ngakanu Island. Start by returning to Kingsmarch and locating Mikoru on his ship. Interact with him and select Ngakanu from the available travel destinations.

After reaching the island, make your way into the Karui village. Continue toward the eastern portion of the settlement, where Kaimana can be found. Speak with her while carrying the Shark Fin to advance the Tribal Medicine quest.

This route is particularly convenient if you have only recently obtained the quest item. Instead of keeping it in your inventory for an extended period, you can immediately travel to Ngakanu and complete the objective.

Where Kaimana Goes Later

Your story progress can change Kaimana’s location. If you have advanced further through Act 4 or completed the relevant portion of the campaign, you may no longer find her on Ngakanu.

In that situation, return to Kingsmarch and check the harbor. Kaimana relocates to a Karui catamaran that is docked on the pier opposite Mikoru’s boat. Once you locate the ship, speak with her and provide the Shark Fin.

The Quest Reward Has Changed

After speaking with Kaimana, you will be presented with two different defensive choices. The first option increases Armour, Evasion, and Energy Shield by 30%. This broad bonus can suit characters that use several defensive mechanics or benefit from stronger overall defensive statistics.

The second option is Rakiata’s Lesson, which provides a more specialized set of benefits. It allows 15% of Armour to apply to elemental damage, grants Deflection Rating equal to 12% of Evasion Rating, and increases the speed at which Energy Shield recharge begins by 12%.

Pick According to Your Build

The better reward depends on how your character survives incoming damage. A hybrid setup that combines Armour, Evasion, and Energy Shield can make excellent use of the general defensive increase. Meanwhile, characters built around Evasion or Energy Shield may gain more value from Rakiata’s Lesson.

It is worth considering your current gear and defensive layers before making the selection. The reward is not simply another temporary quest bonus, so choosing an option that complements your build can provide useful benefits throughout your character’s progression.

Complete the Quest Before Moving On

The most important thing to remember is that the Shark Fin should not be discarded. Its unusual size may encourage you to clear it from your inventory, but completing the quest is the proper way to deal with it. The defensive reward is permanent, making the side quest worthwhile even if you are focused mainly on the campaign.

Because the reward choice cannot normally be changed later, take a moment to match it with your character before confirming your selection.
